The burning question tarot spread is designed to provide insight into an important question. This spread can be used for any type of question, but it is especially useful for questions that are causing you stress or anxiety.
Depending on your question, we could force the cards into a simple yes or no reading or, my preference, allow the cards to intentionally guide us not just to the answer but to how we can best act on that answer.
If you’d like a complete reading done for you then I can do a handwritten spread on your burning question here. Or, if you’d prefer, I can show you how to do this kind of Tarot reading yourself.

I don’t just give you a few cards and their meanings. My spreads are handwritten and use the full combination of the cards to get as much guidance as we can to match your burning question with a burning answer.
How to Do a Burning Question Tarot Spread
The important thing (especially with burning questions that are causing you stress) is not to allow your emotions to dictate the spread for you. This means having a crystal clear understanding of your question and intentions before drawing any cards.
To begin, shuffle the tarot cards and then lay out four cards from left to right (as shown in the image).
Card One: The Past
We can’t know where we’re going without knowing where we’ve been. Your burning question might be focused on the future but it’s still influenced by the past. Understanding the root of the question might give you a better insight than you’d imagine.
Don’t be surprised if this card seems to speak of things you weren’t expecting.
Card Two: Obstacles
The obstacles in our lives are there for a reason. They test us, they force us to grow and they make us stronger. But that’s not always easy to see when we’re in the thick of it.
Emotions can make it hard to see the forest for the woods and this clouds our judgment when we need it to be the clearest. These obstacles might not be what we want to see but they’re still a part of the answer.
The Tarot deck is not trying to focus on the negatives. It doesn’t tell us things that we’re not equipped for so by giving insight into the obstacles it’s really trying to give us a better understanding of how to overcome them.
Card Three: The Present
We also need to look into the present situation outside of just the obstacles in our way. Burning questions are often emotionally charged and can make it hard to see things clearly in front of us. The present is where we need to take action and this card helps us to see what that action might be.
Again, the Tarot isn’t trying to give us a definitive answer but it is trying to help us see where we are right now and what our next steps should be. This is how it can best help us.
Understanding where we’re at right now is an important piece of the puzzle. The present is all we have at the moment and it’s real but constantly changing. This is where we put our focus and energies to make things happen but it’s also where the fear of what is to come can haunt us.
Card Four: The Future
This is the answer to your question. The final card gives us insight into what is to come but it’s not always a straightforward answer. Sometimes it’s not an answer at all but rather a warning of what could happen if we don’t take heed of the advice from the previous cards.
However, it’s important to remember that the future is never set in stone. This answer is a possibility depending on how you respond to the guidance from the other cards in the spread.
This is a simple but powerful tarot spread for answering your burning questions. If you’re feeling stressed or overwhelmed by what you need to know, this spread can help to give you some clarity and guidance. The most important thing is to have a clear question in mind before you begin and to be honest with the cards. Don’t let your emotions drive the answers you want to see.
Important Cards for Whether He Misses You
Every card is important (not just the major arcana cards) but there are a few cards in the tarot deck that are especially significant for answering a burning question.
The Devil Card
The Devil card is about temptation and obsession. If this card appears in your reading, it suggests you’re being tempted away from your own inner guidance. You know something is off with this situation.
The other cards in the spread can give you an insight into where this temptation is coming from.
The Lovers Card
The Lovers card is all about choice. This is a powerful card and it suggests that the answer to your question lies in the decisions you make and your connections to other people.
The Fool
The Fool is a card of new beginnings. If this is the first card in your reading, it suggests that the answer to your question is just around the corner. Be open to new possibilities and don’t be afraid to take risks. This is a time for optimism and hope.
This is one of my favorite cards but it’s commonly misunderstood as someone making a stupid choice. In reality, it’s a symbol of nativity and new beginnings. It’s not about making a mistake but rather starting fresh with a clean slate.
The Tower Card
This is a card of chaos and change. It suggests a time of great change, often brought about by outside forces.
Your burning question is probably causing a lot of chaos in your life and this is reflected in the Tower card. This card can also suggest that you’re not seeing the whole picture. There may be more to the story than what you currently know.
The Goddess Card
The Goddess card is all about intuition and inner wisdom. If this card appears in your reading, it suggests that you have the answer to your question within you. All you need to do is trust your intuition and the combined message of the Tarot cards can help guide you.
